Abstract

Involuntary and voluntary movements share a common final pathway. Therefore, the question arises as to whether they merely superimpose or whether they interact and mutually influence each other. As a simple approach to this problem, we have chosen three types of voluntary movements and have studied the interaction between tremor and these types of voluntary movements. In the presentation here, we mainly concentrate on parkinsonian patients. Analysis of the interaction between voluntary and involuntary movements in other patient groups can be found elsewhere [7–9].
