Abstract

Magnetic impurities in doped quantum wells may interact indirectly through the quasi-two-dimensional electron gas confined in the low gap region. We calculate the indirect exchange via a RKKY model in this system for a pair of impurities and show that, in the dilute limit the indirect exchange is of the ferromagnetic type for a realizable range of impurity concentration and electron gas density.
