Abstract

Some laboratory-studied effects induced by the fluence of fast ions on frosts of as trophysical interest are summarized. The results are applied to the interaction between energetic solar ions and interplanetary dust grains assumed to be cometary debris which spends ~ 106 yr before being collected in the Earth’s atmosphere or colliding on the Moon’s surface.
