Abstract
Computer datasets compiled by the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) provide a wealth of information for social and political science researchers. Unfortunately, their electronic format presents a troublesome access issue for libraries who choose to collect these unique resources. At the University of Akron, the Library and the Computer Center worked together to alleviate access problems. Guidelines were developed to facilitate the acquisition, cataloging, processing and retrieval of ICPSR resources.
