Abstract

ABSTRACT Inter-firm network strategy has been viewed as one of the key components that influence firm survival. The objective of the study is to investigate the relationships among inter-firm network strategy, information advantage, business advantage, knowledge advantage, relationship excellence, inter-organizational trust, and firm survival. The study was conducted by using a postal questionnaire sent to tourism businesses in Thailand. Those questionnaires asked president, manager partner or general manager to be the key informants. The hypothesized relationships among variables are examined by using ordinary least square (OLS) regression analysis. The result of this study shows that resource sharing orientation is positively related to firm survival, and relationship excellence. Furthermore, information exchange capability is positively related to information advantage, business advantage, and knowledge advantage. Surprisingly, operational coordination competency is positively related to only relationship excellence. In addition, information advantage and knowledge advantage is positively related to business advantage. Meanwhile business advantage and knowledge advantage is positively related to relationship excellence. After that relationship excellence is positively related to firm survival. Inter-organizational trust does play a significant moderating role on some of the relationships between dimension of inter-firm network strategy and business advantage. Moreover, theoretical and managerial contributions, conclusion, and suggestions for future research are also discussed.
