Abstract

Expressions for the intensity of atomic fluorescence of atoms in atomic fluorescence flame spectrometry are derived by a simple approach. In this approach the atomic fluorescence of atoms at low and high concentrations excited by narrow line and continuous sources is considered, and the approach is general for resonance, stepwise-line, and direct-line fluorescence. The derived expressions are discussed with regard to comparison of sources of excitation, improvement of detection limits, and shapes of analytical growth curves when using atomic fluorescence flame spectrometry as an analytical method.
