Abstract

Ion-molecule reactions of methanol clusters with a variety of metal ions (M + are studied by laser ablation—molecular beam method. Distinct intensity gaps of M + (CH 3OH) n are found between n = 2 and 3 for most of the metal ions studied, indicating that the first coordination shell is completed by two methanol ligands.
