Abstract

A convenient digital method of performing the intensity correlation of light scattered from fluctuations in a medium is developed and applied to a measurement of line width of the quasi-elastic component of light scattered from concentration fluctuations of a two-component fluid of Nitrobenzene + nHexane near the critical mixing point. The temperature dependences of the mutual diffusion coefficient and the correlation length contained in the line width expression, Γ = D O Q 2 (1 + aξ 2 Q 2), are thus determined.
