Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between the Intensity of Gadget Use and Social Interaction. The hypothesis proposed is that there is a relationship between the intensity of gadget use and social interaction. The subjects in this study are adolescents 60 persons aged 13 to 18 years who live in Gondangmanis Village, Bandarkerdungmulyo District. Data collection techniques are using PurposiveRandom Sampling. The data collection method uses two scales, namely the Scale of Intensity of Gadget Use and Social Interaction which has been compiled by researchers and tested for empirical validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out using the Rho Spearman correlation method using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 16.0 technique. The results of the data analysis resulted in a correlation coefficient of S'rho= -0.330 with p = 0.010 (p< 0.05) which means that there is a significant negative relationship between the Intensity of Gadget Use and Social Interaction which means that the higher the intensity of gadget use, the lower the Social Interaction. And vice versa, if the lower the Intensity of Gadget Use, the higher the Social Interaction. So the hypothesis proposed by this researcher is accepted .
