Abstract

This contact stage layout made it possible to modify the phase interaction scheme at the tray. The vapor, passing through the vapor rubes and picking up sufficient speed, entrains the liquid on the tray. The two-phase streams formed travel upward through the contact tubes, and there is rapid heat and mass transfer between the phases. At the outlets of the tubes, the streams are deflected toward one another and collide, which creates favorable conditions for further heat and mass transfer between the vapor and liquid.
