Abstract
The extreme VUV emission spectrum from the micropinch in a low-inductance vacuum spark consists of a number of broadened and overlapping lines of multicharged ions. Introducing an axial magnetic field prevents the plasma from extensive pinching and leads to an intense source of line radiation.
