Abstract

Increased vehicle traffic results in many problems such as traffic accidents, traffic congestion and so on. Amongst all, traffic induced air pollution is the most ravaging illness in most cities. This traffic induced air pollution is damaging the environment at an alarming rate. Vehicle exhaust is a major source of air pollution. The best way to reduce vehicle emissions is by driving less [1]. Recently the Delhi government followed the ‘odd-even number plate policy’ to combat the effects of traffic air pollution. Similar such measures can be taken by other local governments by estimating the amount of traffic in their locality.
