Abstract
Traffic density is a growing drawback with the crowding of cities in contemporary societies. As a consequence of financial and technological innovations, the living standards of people are improving yet this increases the number of cars and traffic density accordingly. Thus, the density of traffic is reducing the quality of life for individuals in metropolises in particular. Intersections on roads are among the regions with the highest vehicle density. Control of traffic lights at traffic intersections can have important consequences in reducing traffic density and shortening waiting time in traffic. In this study, traffic light control simulation is performed using a Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) on a four-leg intersection. The simulation environment is made via using the Simulation of Urban Mobility (SUMO) program. Developed controllers are simulated for two different strategies. Besides, the conventional Traffic Light Controllers are also simulated, and the results are compared with each other.
