Abstract

The paper analyzes the traditional technique for preparing a technological letter on the formation of the structure of charge materials for electrical arc furnace. The necessity of introducing an intelligent decision support system with adaptation functions based on accumulated empirical and expert information in order to expand the capabilities of traditional technology is shown. The structure of a new system of intellectual support for the selection of charge materials for an electric arc furnace, the introduction of which will eliminate the shortcomings of a traditional technology is presented. The developed system consists of two subsystems. The first subsystem is necessary for gathering information to form the structure of charge materials. The second subsystem provides information for solving the problem of choosing the structure of charge materials. The new system uses two types of information: expert and empirical, which consolidation makes it possible to formalize the problem taking into account the accumulated empirical data and the knowledge of experts. The decomposition diagram of the consolidated expert and empirical information in the intelligent support system is presented on the basis of the main characteristics: the way of presenting information, the purpose of the information, the information belonging to a specific module in the system, the solution of the functional problem, the result of using the information.
