Abstract
Intelligent Reflecting Surface (IRS) is a transformative and innovative technique for enhancing the energy efficiency of modern day communication for 5G and beyond networks. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) is widely used technology as it enhances the energy and spectral efficiency of network. IRS in combination with MIMO is widely used to reduce the non-Line of sight communication losses and also to increase the efficiency. IRS is a tool which changes the phase of the incoming signal by transforming it to a discrete phase and retransmits it towards user. This paper present a deep insight to IRS aided MIMO communication network technology and latest work done in this area. A comparative analysis of works of different authors is represented in a tabular form so as to have a better insight into this area.
