Abstract

AbstractThe edge of manufacturing automation is considered the Lean Production System, who allows to reduce complexity, optimize resources, and eliminate waste in order to increase efficiency, flexibility, and profitability. By using advanced technologies, the production system and manufacturing processes can achieve an intelligent automation level, called Industry 4.0. Moving to Manufacturing 4.0 level is possible by separating active and passive physical manufacturing resources and creating corresponding cyber‐physical systems. In this way, the intelligent manufacturing system is realized. According to this theory, defining and integration of Lean tools at the cyber physical level opens the way to apply Lean principles and techniques, and to create a dynamic Lean‐Industry 4.0 manufacturing architecture. The main challenge of this paperwork is to propose a solution for upgrading of an Industry 3 molding cell for polymeric products to Lean 4.0 manufacturing system level.
