Abstract

AbstractThe rise of wireless technology and other communication techniques has made electronic commerce extremely famous. Buying at broad malls is becoming a regular occurrence in metro towns. For these areas, there is a massive rush during weekends and holidays. People buy different things and place them in a trolley. After purchases are completed, one has to go to the payments billing counter. The cashier checks the bill at the billing counter using a barcode reader which is a very time-consuming procedure which results in a long queue at the billing counter. A smart product is the one that helps make daily life easy, convenient, and secure. In this paper, we present an innovative shelf-checkout concept that helps smart shopping and billing. The main concept here is to support a person shopping on a regular basis in terms of the reduced amount of time spent when buying a product. The proposed work also implements an analysis of the products to gain a best-buy option. To achieve this feat, we have incorporated a recommendation system along with the general product display. The main objective of this work is to provide a technology-oriented, cost-effective, easily scalable, and robust system for personal shopping.KeywordsRFIDSmart shoppingE-commerceCosine similaritySmart recommendation systemArduino microcontroller
