Abstract

Due to the inaccuracy and energy consumption problems existing in the single detection and instantaneous tracking method for solar energy, a novel intelligent detection method using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation has been addressed in this work for the first time to determine the motion position of the evolving sun where photoelectric sensors and motion law of the sun are, respectively, employed to determine the position of the sun and moreover the sun's altitude and azimuth are evaluated using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method under different weather conditions. Secondly, intelligent adaptive tracking control scheme for solar energy has been presented where the scheme is whether determined to be started, according to the weather forecasting data, light intensity, wind speed and direction, ambient temperature and solar cell back temperature and others, and if started, tracking speed and angle will be computed as driving signals to drive a stepping motor. The intelligent detection method together with adaptive tracking strategy illustrated in the work can not only take effect under different weather conditions but also reduce enormously the power dissipation and mechanical loss, because of which the method can be applied effectively in the solar photovoltaic power generation projects.
