Abstract

This paper discusses intelligent and flexible radio access/transmission technologies necessary to smoothly upgrade supported services as well as to economically extend coverage and operational environments. After a brief discussion on classification of key technologies for intelligent and flexible radio access/transmission technologies, the paper discusses the adaptive transmission parameter (TP) control techniques for both time division multiple access (TDMA) based and code division multiple access (CDMA) based systems. Finally, this paper proposes a time division multiplex (TDM) based adaptive access control technique to further enhance system capacity and to introduce higher grade services for CDMA-based wireless multimedia communication systems.
