Abstract

AbstractThe central theme to this paper is to provide the research outcome on the application of a software model developed for effective transfer of user requirements into product design features including cost analysis, with built‐in scientific decision making support tool. In the extremely competitive global environment, there is a need for integrating cost evaluation and deployment into the design process in a systematic way for up front identification of cost while maintaining a balance of quality and performance requirements. The developed model is Excel® based and tested with actual industry based case studies as applied to Australian manufacturing and industry. The proposed model will establish measures of World Best Practice with minimum complexity to improve product design and project management.
