Abstract

Abstract Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies are widely used among cancer patients and some of them may be helpful in the management of cancer-related symptoms. Mind–body interventions, and other relaxation therapies, such as massage and music, appear to be bene!cial in alleviating cancer pain, improving mood symptoms and decreasing insomnia. Acupuncture therapy can reduce chemotherapy-induced nausea/vomiting and cancer-related pain, while aerobic exercise appears to reduce fatigue. Dietary supplements, including St. John’s wort and SAMe, appear to be helpful in treating depression, while capsaicin cream can reduce cancer pain and postsurgical neuropathic pain.
