Abstract

A method for Integration of voice and data, based upon the entropy of full duplex speech encoded into 8 bits m-LAW is presented. The integration eliminates the coding delay of the encoded speech, resulting generally from variable length coding, and increases the effective rate for data bits in 12Kbits/sec. The method is useful when conventional speech coders give poor results. For example Tandem Coding or in Man-Machine communication.
