Integration of vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser on silicon photonic circuits using tilted membrane based grating couplers

Abstract

We demonstrate the integration of vertical- cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) with silicon photonic chip using flip-chip bonding technique. 0.66 mW power is coupled in the silicon waveguide at a bias current of 10 mA to the laser.
