Abstract

The present work describes the mathematical model of the baroreflex receptor mechanism working on a dimensionally‐heterogeneous (1D‐0D) closed‐loop model of the cardiovascular system. Such heterogeneous model includes the 1D description of the arterial tree, 0D model for the venous, pulmonary and cardiac circulation. The detailed description of the arterial vascular tree allow us to perform vasomotor control actions in a different way, while gaining insight about the effects of the baroreflex regulation over hemodynamic quantities of interest throughout the entire vascular system. One example is presented: we simulate the hemorrhage in the abdominal aorta artery and analyze the action of the baroreflex over the system.CAPES, CNPq and FAPERJ
