Abstract

The association of distributed databases with automated process control as described in section 1 sets the problem of establishing consistent transactions schedules which are compatible with real-time constraints. Both data consistency and real-time scheduling are domains which have been largely investigated but separately. This paper addresses the two problems together and shows that a unique approach is possible. A common synchronization mechanism is used to solve respectively the data consistency problem and the real-time scheduling problem. An implementation on the SIGMA prototype is described as well.
