Abstract

To ensure realization of design quality objectives in manufacturing processes, quality information produced in manufacturing processes should be considered by designers. Integrating manufacturing quality information with design tools is an effective way to utilize such information. Firstly, the demands for manufacturing quality information supporting design are analyzed briefly in this paper. Then, the framework of integrating manufacturing quality information with design tools is given. Thirdly, the paper analyzes information integration methods of encapsulation mode, interface mode and integration mode in detail. Fourthly, the model of integrating manufacturing quality information with design tools based on CORBA is presented. By the mode manufacturing quality information is integrated with design tools from attribute layer. Finally, this paper proposes the model of integrating manufacturing quality information with design tools based on XML, manufacturing quality information can be integrated with design tools from feature layer in this mode.
