Abstract

Automation in manufacturing industries guarantees cost-effective production and less human efforts. Intelligent enabled Industrial IoT devices are deployed in all the segments of the production such as design, analysis, assembly line, warehouse management, and logistics. An intelligent aspect of current technology contributes much to being a part of Industry 4.0. The contemporary manufacturing industries require superior elasticity in processes, amplified productivity, profits, and higher-quality production. To fulfill the demands, Industries started focusing on smart solutions to build fully automated plants. Industrial IoT devices in such plants generate an enormous amount of heterogeneous data. Industrial IoT devices comprise sensors, actuators, connectivity, user interface, and powerless compute engine to provide real-time data in production lineup. For triggering insight information, big data analytics is required in the smart manufacturing process. Analytical techniques used in big data technology are capable of handling large amounts of standalone data as well as streaming data. By analyzing data, the information needed for dynamic decision-making on design change in production can be obtained. This chapter pops out core aspects of Industrial IoT and big data analytics-based solutions in smart manufacturing, and figures out challenges involved in integrating Industrial IoT and big data analytics for smart manufacturing industries.
