Abstract

Nowadays, there are large volumes of geospatial data archived at globally distributed locations. And more and more Web-based geospatial information services are developed for analyzing and managing geospatial data. In order to share and process geospatial information quickly and conveniently, this paper proposes a geospatial data and services sharing framework based on Web portal technologies, Web services, OGC, and W3C Standards. It is a six-layer architecture that consists of the client Graphical User Interface (GUI) layer, the geospatial portal service layer, the service broker layer, the workflow layer, the geospatial Web service layer, and the geospatial database layer. A prototype system for geospatial Information sharing and processing portal based on this framework is developed. In the portal, the users can access to geospatial data and process the geospatial data through a single Web entry point that aggregates multiple Web sources by different portlets at the backend.
