Abstract
A novel tool for fold creation in non-crimp fabric (NCF) preform is presented. Allowing the generation of three-dimensional preforms for the resin transfer moulding (RTM) process. The device is integrated into a robotic cell to automate the lay-up assembly using a new shape inclusive methodology. The main functions of the technique are discussed and the key elements of the cell are described.
