Abstract

The island of Ireland has a total population of less than six million who share a small area and face many of the same issues and concerns. Yet, in most cases, the opportunities for integrating efforts to promote sustainable development and public health are not utilised. In this article we outline the current policies on sustainable development and health in Ireland, north and south, before suggesting some remedies.
