Integrating SAP in Business School

Abstract

In today's digital transformation era, organizations are integrating their business and operational processes by adapting enterprise systems Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) such as SAP. As a result, the need for business graduates with knowledge and skills in those enterprise systems has gradually increased. To address this need, business schools are increasingly incorporating ERP Systems understanding and skills into their academic programs. 'Learning by doing' practical ERP SAP exercises in the classroom is one initiative that could enhance learning of ERP, business processes and SAP. This study designed to investigate the impact of Business Information Systems (BIS) course in learning outcomes and student satisfaction of SAP based on a survey taken from the students who studied this course. The Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) by using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was as a method for analyzing outcomes of the SAP exercises/cases. The research results showed that factors perceived ERP, business process knowledge, SAP skills affect learning outcomes and student satisfaction toward ERP and SAP systems. Based on the authors' experiences in teaching and learning ERP/SAP in the classroom, the study discusses the impacts of ERP integration into business school curricula.
