Abstract

The article attempts to identify working conditions that need to be managed in public sector organizations to ensure employee satisfaction. Structural, procedural and cultural changes associated with New Public Management change programs have been show to negatively impact employee performance through increased levels of employee stress and dissatisfaction and declining levels of organizational commitment. These factors often result in substantial costs for the organization, affecting both efficiency and agency effectiveness.
