Abstract
This paper discusses trends in women's substance abuse and its effects, including assessment of employment needs, and the development of treatment modalities. It also highlights the importance of employment or work needs and discusses the integration of these needs as a framework for assessing substance abuse treatment for women. The hierarchy of needs approach is provided as the conceptual framework.
