Abstract

In this paper we propose a new wideband metal-plate antenna capable of generating a wide operating bandwidth to cover the 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz operations. In a similar way to the flat-plate or bent metal-plate antennas, the proposed antenna has a low profile and is suitable to be used as an internal or integrated antenna for laptop computers. Moreover, in addition to cover the 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz bands for the existing WLAN systems, the antenna is also suitable for application in the new broadband wireless metropolitan area network (WMAN) system for mobile broadband wireless access in the 2.3 to 5.85 GHz band.
