Abstract

This paper focuses on methodology of optimization of the torque split and gear shift points in any drive cycle for Hybrid Electric vehicle. The methodology evaluates objective parameter defined at each and every operating point for Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and electric motor-generator (E-machine) for all possible torque split and gear shift combinations at a particular instant and finally choose one combination with the least value of objective parameter (which is dependent on Equivalent fuel consumption, but is restricted under various constraints like drivability, component operational limits etc). This enables simultaneous optimization of otherwise independent parameters (gear and torque split) and aims towards a better solution that would be feasible for use even in real world scenario.
