Abstract

Abstract The study used 2110 Nigerian secondary school students (1145 boys and 965 girls) to assess their teachers for characteristics of effective science teaching using integrated science as the medium. The Integrated Science Students’ Perception Questionnaire was used to validate the Science Students’ Perception Questionnaire recently developed. The results of the research revealed that the SSPQ is a highly valid and reliable instrument for studies of this kind. It has also established that secondary school students could effectively assess their teachers with regards to pre‐classroom characteristics, teaching behaviour, personality and attitudes.
