Abstract

AbstractThis chapter covers the history of integrated pest management (IPM; biological, chemical and cultural control, and host resistance), important crop pests, and research and extension focus in IPM in Russia, and discusses the organization of IPM system, IPM and pesticide use policies, and case studies on IPM implementation in the former USSR and Russia. Tabulated data on major insect pests and diseases of some important agricultural crops (mainly horticultural and field crops) in Russia; pesticide use; losses prevented by chemical treatments in Russia during 1991-2000; noxious weeds in major crops; and quantitative crop loss due to damage caused by pests, diseases and weeds during 1996-2000.
