Abstract

Abstract The integrated pitch control system of a three-bladed, variable-speed, horizontal-axis large-sized wind turbines consists of three coupled control loops. The first one is known as collective pitch control (CPC). The second one is the active tower damping control (ATDC), which is used to damp tower oscillation due to the pitching activity. Finally, the third one is the individual pitch control (IPC), which is used to mitigate loads on the blades. In the present work, the coupled controllers are jointly tuned by using multiobjective optimization. Simulation results show that the proposed tuning approach yields satisfactory performance for all control loops.
