Abstract

Integrated operation systems for managing optical cable networks are required in order to provide broadband and multimedia services for the future fiber to the home (FTTH) era. A key technology is a database system which can manipulate outside facilities data with a complicated structure. Outside plant provisioning and intelligent operating systems (Optos) has been developed to construct the complete NTT operation, administration, maintenance, and provisioning (OAM&P) system in the access cable network domain. This system can distribute electronic data including figures and geographic information among many operation systems. This paper describes the Optos system architecture and a newly designed database model and the main functional applications for access cable network operations.
