Abstract
An integrated navigation system relieves the officer on watch from much of his routine work. Safety is enhanced by better watchkeeping as well as the better position knowledge resulting from continuous Omega recordings being fed automatically to the central navigation computer. Other advantages are reduced sailing time and better prediction of arrivals. The navigation system is built around one central computer receiving inputs from speed log and gyro compass as well as a special Omega receiver.
