Abstract

In this paper, we propose a multi-functional probe for recording biological activities in a living single neural cell. An active and simultaneous measurement method using a glass micro injector as a multi-functional probe was examined. A measurement region was estimated to be submicron order by using FDTD simulation. A prototype device was applied to a single neural cell in a buccal ganglion of Aplysia. Since active potentials and calcium concentration reactions induced by electric stimuli were recorded simultaneously, validity of our measurement method was confirmed.
