Abstract

This review summarizes the past, current and future techniques that can be utilized for insect pest management in oilseed rape (OSR) crops and discusses the prospects for their adoption in the near future. The economic constraints on OSR production are discussed in terms of their potential for insect pest management. Succeseful integrated pest management (IPM) in OSR will depend on multidisciplinary approaches and the use of expert systems to draw together disparate pest management strategies into a coherent, workable framework for devising IPM programmes that suit particular pest problems in different countries.
