Abstract
An integrated system for hydraulic suspension and brake is a very sensful solution for the demand of a constant boarding height independent of the vehicle loading. This solution offers best possibilites for mass transit railway vehicles, especially for low floor tramways, where hydraulic brakes are already "on board". This article describes the advantages of that system compared to steel spring and air suspension, the function of the system and the use of a simulation model for the design process for new vehicles.
