Abstract

In this paper, three direct methods (i.e., Controlling Unstable Equilibrium Point (CUEP) method, Potential Energy Boundary Surface (PEBS) method, and Extended Equal Area Criterion (EEAC) method) for power system transient stability analysis have been reviewed and compared. Their analysis accuracy and their error sources are investigated. Then, an integrated direct method with much higher accuracy and reliability is proposed. The proposed method has been applied to two Chinese power systems for transient stability analysis of more than two thousand cases under large disturbances of symmetrical and unsymmetrical faults and autoreclosure operating sequence disturbances. Statistical results clearly illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
