Abstract

This paper describes a computer aided design system INSYPS for study of complex chemical processes. It handles graphical input/output, dynamic simulation, steady state simulation and optimization. The simulators and optimization techniques employed are well known, it has been designed in a modular fashion, it is implemented on DEC System-10 and performs graphic operations on a Tektronix-4013 terminal; the largest of its module loads in under 28k. It utilizes the file system for transfer of information from one subsystem to another. The entire package is Fortran based. The system has been successfully applied to a study of a plant in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada.
