Abstract

Representation theorems for linear causal input-output maps that take certain bounded R-valued functions on (0, infinity ) into not necessarily-bounded functions on the same time interval are presented. In particular, an identification is made between an important class of maps and a set of functions of bounded variations on compact subsets of (0, infinity ). These functions have the interpretation that they are step responses.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
