Abstract

The insulin sensitivity of adipose tissue and composition of adipose tissue were investigated in cold acclimated rats. It was revealed that adipose tissue of cold acclimated rats is more sensitive to the effect of insulin as far as the stimulation of lipogenesis is concerned than adipose tissue of controls. It was also found that adipose tissue of cold acclimated rats contains more RNA, DNA and protein than adipose tissue of controls. No differences were found in the insulin sensitivity of muscle tissue (diaphragm) between controls and cold acclimated rats.
