Abstract

Type II diabetes, with or without insulin, is at an all-time high and a related co-morbidity of other chronic medical problems. This patient, adamant about not staying on insulin, added berberine (with alpha-lipoic acid), adopted a low carbohydrate ketogenic diet, and lost weight as adjuvant therapies to insulin and metformin. In about six months his physician had discontinued his insulin, he had lost 57 pounds, and lowered his blood pressure.
