Abstract

Summary Some insular species of Ptenidium from Ceylon, Malagasy and the Seychelles are studied, with the result that P. macrocephalum Nietner is re-described, and descriptions given of five new species: ceylonicum, cognatum, vadoni, planum and improvisum. The species are also keyed out and figured. P. reticulatum Britten is found to belong to a different genus, but this is not described due to inadequate material. Observations are also made on the interpretation of subgenera in Ptenidium.
