Abstract

Pediatric patients with cerebral palsy have a higher risk of respiratory failure due to their anatomical and physiological particularities, requiring the adoption of preventive treatment to improve their quality of life. Topics such as working with multidisciplinary team, feeding methods and respiratory secretion mobilization strategies are discussed in this article. In addition, treatment of sialorrhea, gastroesophageal reflux, bronchiectasis, malnutrition and laryngotracheal separation surgery are addressed, with the aim of reducing respiratory morbidity in these patients.
